Book Description (Empyrean Quest Publishers):
This is a book about the power of faith and the mind. Written by a retired Canadian microbiologist,
it provides more examples of this power than any other book I have read. Sketches of prime movers in the world of mind power are peppered in between a convincing analysis of the ultimate nature of the capability of life-changing experience. The Missing Piece to Paradise is written to meet the needs of those who look for love or for money, for the sick who need healing, for those who seek relief from arthritis and migraine, cancer or AIDS, for those weary of living on pills; for the jobless who want employment and the poor who seek money, for the rich who have everything that money can buy but have no peace of mind; for those who suffer discrimination or serious injustice from friends, communities, and strangers, are tormented by vengefulness and cannot forgive; for New Age philosophers and parapsychologists who want to be convinced they are on the right track; for preachers and teachers who seek knowledge and for those who search for the purpose of their existence. The universal appeal of this book and its clear language will be a beacon for a long time to come, a light to the path of the seeker of the true nature of themselves, God, and nature.
Abbey Reviews, 1-10-00:
"Dr. Simon shows us the way to heaven on earth by scientific proof of the power of faith and gratitude. He begins with a gripping description of how his mother escaped death fourteen times at the hands of a murderous uncle.
"He then guides us to an understanding of the power of 'Mind', which his extensive research and examples convince us to be independent of any religion or belief system. Touching on major players in the field of the science of faith, one is reminded of the all-inclusive Cosmic Consciousness of Bucke, and yet it is very personable and readable. His numerous experiments and exercises strengthen the power to image and manifest miracles.
"Simon then leads us to consider the existence and nature of God through Big Bang Cosmology and Biology. Finally, he is at his best exploring the wonderous clues of the 'Divine Mind' in exploring the patterns of the life forms on this planet. You cannot read this book and not be convinced of the power of belief, and the personal benefits of gratitude." (copyright 1-08-00)
Excerpt: EFFECT OF MIND ON BODY, (c) 2000 Dr. P. C. Simon:
"Mind controls our bodies, thoughts, health, fortunes, and lives.
A simple experiment to illustrate the influence of mind on body is to imagine that you are holding a juicy, large, cut lemon in your hand. Imagine that you are squeezing the lemon and trying to suck it. As soon as you think of the lemon juice touching your tongue, what happens? It is likely that your mouth puckers and you begin to salivate. This is thought acting on the salivary glands.
For another experiment, ask a friend to stretch out his arm and hold it firmly while you try to bend his elbow. You will find it difficult. A second time, while he holds his arm firmly, let him say about ten times "My arm is weak, my arm is weak, my arm is weak." While he is repeating the words try to bend his elbow. You will see it is now much easier to bend his elbow than it was before. His words were conveyed to his brain which influenced his mind, and the mind made his arm weak.
To get the full benefit out of this book and to convince your subconscious mind that you have the potential, you have to actually do these experiments. Reading alone will not bring the benefit. Actual practice has its own rewards. Even if you spend 30 years reading about the most advanced technique of swimming, you will never learn to swim, until you get into the water. Please practice and test the exercises right now.
When blindfolded-subjects are told that poison ivy placed on them is a harmless leaf, nothing happens. When harmless leaves are placed and the subjects are told they are poisonous leaves, the subjects develop wheals.
The Mind affects not only our bodies but also the body and mind of a foetus developing inside the uterus. An unwanted foetus may be born prematurely or with physical defects, and will very likely develop into a mentally deficient, antisocial human being prone to criminality...
Further Recommended Mind Exercises (for Chapter 2)
1. Take your pulse. Now vividly imagine that you are running for 200 yards. Feel the effort all the way until you reach the end of the imaginary track. Take your pulse again. You will see that the rate has increased.
2. Stand behind a seated person. Hold the palms of your hands one inch over his head. Fill yourself with unconditional love and project it into that person. Feel love flowing through your palms into the head of that person. Note that you feel warmth in your hands and transfer the heat in your fingers to that person. He will feel the warmth coming over his head.
3. If you or anyone has a headache, visualize the headache's location. Without pointing with your hand, mentally locate which part of the head is involved; the top, the side, the front, the back, etc. Give a shape to the area of the headache as oval, circle, square, or triangle. Give a color to the area. Now see the color fading. Again, locate the area where the pain is. Has it moved? Look at its shape. Has it changed? Look at its color. What color is it now? The third time you try to locate where the headache is, usually you cannot find it. That means the pain has disappeared.
4. Become a puppet. Make your body behave like a puppet. Let your body bend forward. Bend the knees slightly. Let your arms and hands hang down. Be relaxed. Let your strings hang slack. Now pull the strings to raise your right arm upwards and suddenly release it. The arm will drop. Repeat with the left arm, then the legs, head, neck, and all joints. Then move in a jerky way as the puppet moves. Try to move with coordination. You will find the coordinated movements very peaceful and enjoyable.
5. Hold your arms outstretched. Turn to the right and note how far you are able to turn by locating an object in the periphery of your vision. Now, mentally see yourself having turned more than you did. Do this three or four times. Now physically turn and see how far you are able to turn. You will see that you have turned more than you did the first time. Your mental movement, caused your body and muscles to relax so that you were able to turn a greater distance.
6. Select five playing cards from the same suit (king, queen, jack, ten and ace). Shuffle them, place them face down in front of you and write down on a slip of paper the probable card you are going to turn. Now turn the card and see whether your prediction was correct. Repeat twenty times and find out how many times your predictions were correct. Repeat the experiment with greater expectation of improving your score. You will see that it really happens.
7. Throw the dice and predict what number is going to fall. Record your success rate. Every time, expect better results than the previous time.
8. Hold a pendulum over your thigh and note its motion. Now give a hard blow to the thigh and note the change in motion of the pendulum. The first time, the pendulum was reacting to normal, healthy tissue. The second time, it was reacting to injured tissue.
9. By concentrated thought, move the needle of a compass (as Nelya Mikhilova does).
10. Play any game you normally play using the hand you normally use and note the ease with which you move the hand. Now play the same game using the other hand and note how awkwardly you move your hand at play. For about three minutes, mentally project playing the game with your unusual hand. Now move your hand physically as if playing the game with the unusual hand. You will see that your hand moves more easily than before.
11. Hold a ring or key chain or any object usually worn by a person. Project your mind to see what kind of a person the owner is--male or female, the place they live, the colors they prefer, the color they wear just then, their age, color of their hair, their interests in life and any health problems they have. Find out your success rate.
12. Place a round pencil on a glass top and roll the pencil by mental power.
13. Project love to the person you are approaching and see how they react towards you.
14. Every morning, look into the mirror and tell your reflection, "I like you, I love you, you are great."
15. Write down and convey a message by thought to a person very close to you at an appointed time. Find out if they were able to guess what message you were sending.
16. Ask a friend to give you the name and age of a sick person and the place where they live and see if you can diagnose the condition of the person. Find out your success rate.
You will not be successful in all these exercises, but in some of them you will have a higher rate of success. Concentrate on them and you will develop your capability."
